Deborah Buschmann of the BP Research Library in Warrenville was recognized by DuPage Library System on May 18th with the Support Staff Award, one of only three awards given by the system as part of their "DLS Day" celebration each year. SLA Illinois Chapter would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Debbie for receiving this award for her 35-year tenure as the "face of library services" at the main desk in the BP Library, as well as for representing the "specials" of the system so well.

WHEREAS, the Special Libraries Association (SLA) was founded on July 3, 1909, in order support "libraries serving business, government, social agencies and parts of the academic community"; and

As you already know, we are collaborating with our local library systems to host an all-day symposium on November 6th of this year entitled, "Innovate, Create, Succeed" - We have fabulous, fun speaking engagements planned to ensure that this will be a fun and interactive day for all attendees.

 Thanks to a lot of hard work on the part of a broad team of representatives from our local library systems, led by Christina Stoll at MLS, we have a very informative and interactive workshop planned for November 6th.

Nancy Maloney, Special Libraries Subject Curator for WebJunction Illinois recently wrote an article titled "Recharging the Corporate Library with Public Library Ideas."
